Education in Camden County Georgia

Camden County offers diverse educational opportunities for all. There are many educational opportunities in Camden at all levels of study and many services to help students increase their chances of success. The College of Coastal Georgia as well as extension campuses of Brenau University, Troy University, Valdosta State University, ensure that residents can obtain undergraduate and graduate degrees without leaving the area. Technical training is also readily available through Altamaha Technical College. Additionally, colleges and universities in Jacksonville, FL are in close proximity.
 The newly named College of Coastal Georgia, a state college of the University System of Georgia, began preparation to offer baccalaureate degrees in education, business, and nursing, beginning fall 2009. Pre-baccalaureate degree programs are also available for transfer, as well as lifelong learning, participation in economic development within the College service area, and partnerships with K-12 schools. Through locations in Glynn and Camden counties, the College of Coastal Georgia offers an outstanding array of opportunities for young professionals, traditional students and adult learners. The College of Coastal Georgia offers several other options for getting a Bachelor's or Master's degree right here in Southeast Georgia. |

By contract with the U.S. Navy, Brenau University offers undergraduate and graduate business programs at the Kings Bay Naval Submarine Base in St. Marys, GA. Classes are open to military personnel and area civilians. Brenau's Online College offers undergraduate degree programs in business and graduate programs in business and education, as well as an RN to BSN program. |

Valdosta State University offers the extensive academic, cultural and social opportunities of a major university, and the small classes and close personal attention found at smaller institutions. VSU has a legacy as a major provider of education services for South Georgia. As a regional university, it focuses on the long-term, total educational experience, providing a variety of catalysts for student growth in all areas of life. To expand its programmatic outreach, it develops and offers programs by distance learning and at off-campus locations throughout the region, including Kings Bay Naval Submarine Base in Camden County and at Waycross College in Waycross. |

Altamaha Technical College’s primary mission is to serve as one of the key components of a regional economic development engine, offering training and educational opportunities in programs of study (associate degrees, certificates and diplomas) that lead its graduates to good jobs, and providing customized training specifically designed for the business and industrial community. With the recent transfer of technical education programs from the College of Coastal Georgia, Altamaha Technical College, based in Jesup, GA, expands its service delivery area to include Camden, Glynn and McIntosh counties. The college already serves Appling, Jeff Davis, Long and Wayne counties.
